Police organises workshop on road safety, traffic awareness at DPS B’gam

Srinagar : The Police on Thursday organized a one-day workshop on road safety and traffic awareness at Delhi Public School Budgam. The objective of the workshop was to sensitize awareness about road safety and traffic awareness among the participants.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar, The SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem was the chief guest at the event. The programme was also attended by Principal DPS Budgam, SDPO Charar Shareef, Sr. PO Budgam and other officers of Police and large number of students, teachers and transportation staff of DPS Budgam also attended the programme.
Police on the occasion said that a detailed presentation on road safety was presented by the Chief Guest and delivered a detailed lecture on road safety & traffic awareness. He also raised public awareness about traffic rules to reduce casualties due to road accidents. He also added that due to lack of awareness or ignoring traffic rules, every year road accidents claim thousands of lives and millions get injured. He also emphasized upon making youth aware of the traffic rules and persuades them to follow these rules while on the road. He also passed important directions among the bus drivers of school to follow traffic rules and norms carefully while driving. Moreover,
Moreover, Sr.PO DPO Budgam Voonesh Sangotra threw light on legal aspects of road safety & traffic awareness. He also spoke about Supreme Court guidelines for school buses and drivers and penal provisions under Motor Vehicle Act 1988. Besides, SDPO Charar Shareef Salim Jehangir also deliberated upon important aspects of road safety & traffic awareness.
SSP Budgam administered an oath/pledge to all participants wherein it was pledged that every participant will obey traffic rules and will persuade others also to do the same. At the end of the workshop, Principal DPS Budgam Shobhna S Irohi thanked the Police for organizing such program.
