Srinagar|Nov,18 : National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah has refused to withdraw his resignation as Party President despite too much of persuasion by senior party leaders to withdraw the resignation and party announced conduct of elections for new President on December 5 this year, stating therein that Dr Abdullah continues to be the President till the election of new President on December 5 this year.
A statement issued from party headquarters in Srinagar reads “Dr Farooq Abdullah has informed his colleagues of his decision to step down as president of JKNC, In spite of the best efforts of senior colleagues in the party Dr Abdullah was adamant that he wouldn’t review his decision”. Stating that in light of this sudden announcement which has caught everyone by surprise the party General Secretary, the party statement further reads ” as per the party constitution General Secretary of the party has been tasked the job of conducting the election for party president which will be completed on December 5 this year”, adding that “Until that time Dr Farooq continues as President of the party”.
