Weekly Block Diwas: DDC Rajouri listens to people’s issues at Darhal

People asked to avail benefits of Govt schemes, DC also Inspects dev projects

DDC Rajouri asks telecom operators to improve connectivity to mitigate public issues

Rajouri : District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal on Wednesday convened a public outreach camp under the aegis of weekly Block Diwas program here at Darhal and listened to the issues of the locals.

Among the others present during the event were ADDC, Pawan Kumar; DFO Rajouri, Arshdeep Singh; DDC Member Darhal, Iqbal Malik; BDC Darhal, MohdAslam; PO ICDS, ShoketMehmood Malik; CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; SE Hydraulics, JP Singh; CEO RDA, VivekPuri and other district and sectoral officers.

The public and their representatives highlighted a number of issues and demands seeking augmentation of power and water supply, better medicarefacilities, improvement of roads, school up-gradation, construction of GDC Building at Darhal etc.

Specific issues highlighted during the event were sanctioning of adequate funds under B2V, meeting shortage of electricity transformers, scarcity of water, repair and renovation of PS Pattathana, construction of a bridge at leerawali, completion of work on Ujhanbridge etc.

Some other issues projected were speedy execution of JJM projects, meeting shortage of water pipes at panchayatKhoriwali, construction of road from BadiDarhal to Hilltock, sanctioning of a dispensary at Khoriwali, construction of boundary wall of Government High School Dodaj and it’s up-gradation, construction of road from Dodaj to Kharka, fire and emergency service station, SBI Branch, repair of irrigation kulhs, eviction of illegal encroachment on govt buildings.

The officers of different departments also responded to the queries raised by the public during the event and educated them about the schemes and programmes being implemented in the district and motivated them to avail the benefits of the same.

The DDC patiently listened to the issues of the public raised during the program and assured that all their genuine demands would be redressed in a time-bound manner.

Addressing the event, the DDC said the purpose of holding such programs is to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for precise and on-ground assessment for time bound redressal.

He also said that the District Administration is striving hard to take the district towards development by utilizing its potential in different sectors and all possible measures are being taken to provide the Govt services at the doorsteps of the general public.

Expressing the strong resolve of the District Administration to ensure transparency and accountability in its functioning, he also said concrete measures are being taken to make Govt services more transparent and easily accessible to the public.

He also urged the PRIs to play a crucial role in the development of their areas and ensure that all the developmental works being executed in their respective jurisdictions are completed within the set times while adhering to quality parameters.

Referring to scores of schemes and programs launched by the Govt for the welfare of the youth, the DDC urged the local youth to come forward and avail the benefits of different welfare schemes of the Government launched for handholding of the youth so that they earn livelihood with dignity and honour.

While addressing the issues and demands of the general public, he also exhorted the officers to take immediate measures to mitigate the problems of the people highlighted during the public outreach program.

Regarding the illegal encroachment on government buildings, he made it clear that stern action shall be taken against the encroachers. Replying to the issue of shortage of electricity poles, the DDC assured that an adequate number of electricity poles would be provided under the RDSS scheme of the PDD sector.

Regarding scarcity of drinking water facilities, he assured that all the households of the block shall be provided functional tapped water connections with the completion of JJM projects on ground.

The DDC also gave on the spot directions to the concerned departments for taking necessary steps to meet the genuine demands of the local people so that they don’t face any inconveniences.

He also directed the concerned officers to work with zeal, devotion and dedication so as to provide facilities to people at their doorsteps.

Later, the DDC also inspected the developmental projects at Darhal. En-route, he also met a public deputation who apprised him about a number of issues and demands. The DDC assured them that their genuine concerns would be redressed in a time bound manner.
