DDC Kupwara chairs mega Block Diwas at panchayat Khumriyal-B

Kupwara : The District Administration Kupwara Wednesday conducted Block Diwas programmes at Khumriyal-B in Kalaroose block, Sogam and ShahilalHandwara to hear the issues of the people at their doorsteps.

District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray chaired a Mega Block Diwas event at Panchayat Khumriyal-B in block Kalaroose.

CMO Kupwara, CEO, CAO, CAHO, LDM, Ex. Engineers from various departments, Tehsildar, BDO, ZEO, AD Planning, besides, BDC Chairperson Kalaroose, PRIs and people in large numbers were present during the block diwas programme.

Addressing the function, the DDC appreciated the PRIs for supporting the ‘Zimadari’ initiative of the District Administration which has produced positive results on the ground by improving the overall education scenario in the schools across the district.

Referring to PMEGP, the DDC said that after essential services like road, power and water, unemployment remains a big issue in the society adding that the Government has put special focus to address the issue by providing financial assistance to the unemployed youth to establish their self-employment units through the PMEGP scheme.

He said 35-40% subsidy is provided to the youth who are willing to start their ventures with no requirement of collateral/security up to Rs.10 lakh financial assistance.

He also informed that an Awareness/Enrollment Camp will be organized on 18th November in block Kalaroose in which all officers from line departments, banks will participate and urged the local youth to take part in the same camp to get benefitted.

The DDC asked PRIs to extend their support in the successful conduct of the camp so that maximum unemployed youth are benefitted under the ambitious self employment programme (PMEGP).

Earlier, PRIs and local residents put forth various day to day developmental issues of the area before the DDC who heard them patiently.

Regarding power supply, the DDC said that work is apace for augmentation of various receiving stations including RS Khumriyal and RS Galizoo which will improve the power scenario in the area. He asked the people to avoid using crude heating devices which may damage the transformers, besides, causing inconvenience to other citizens.

Replying to a query relating to power supply in Moorie area, the DDC said that a DPR of Rs.5.5 crore has got approval of the Tribal Department for augmentation of LT/HT line in the Moorie of block Kalaroose.

Regarding the Forest Rights Act, the DDC directed the concerned Forest officer to ensure proper projection of FRA cases from the area for their timely disposal.

On tourism development, the DDC said that work is apace on 3 Parks along with water-fronts to beautify the district for attraction of the tourists. The parks are being constructed at Khumriyal, Goose and Kupwara.

The DDC also resolved various other issues relating to PHE, Health and Bank on the spot in presence of the concerned officers of the departments.

Earlier, Officers from administration provided detailed awareness to the people about the schemes of their respective departments.

Block Diwas was also held at Shahilal in Handwara block which was chaired by ADC Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir. BDC Chairperson, Officers from administration attended the block diwas event.

SDM Lolab, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat also chaired a block diwas event at Sogam in Lolab sub division. PRIs, Officers from local administration and people in large numbers attended the block diwas event.

During these block diwas events, officers heard the developmental issues of PRIs and the general public.
