Agri Deptt hosts Workshop on “Proposal for GIS based Agriculture Geo Hub for J&K’

Jammu :  Directorate of Agriculture Production & Farmers welfare, Jammu organized a presentation on “Proposal for GIS based Agriculture Geo Hub for Jammu & Kashmir” on Wednesday at conference Hall, KrishiBhawan, Jammu which was presented by Ersi India Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

Those who attended the presentation included Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs), A. S. Reen, Joint Director Agriculture (Apiculture & Mushrooms), R. K. Hitaishi, Joint Director Agriculture (SLUB/Farms), Vijay Upadhaya besides sectoral heads and other officers.

The technical session was conducted by Rominder Singh Bedi, Business Manager and ArchitBudhiraja, Assistant Business Manager, Ersi India Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

Welcoming the participants, the Joint Director (Inputs) said that this workshop is the part of Digital Agriculture Mission 2021–2025 which aims to encourage and speed up projects based on use of cutting-edge technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, remote sensing, robots, and drones in farming.

The technical team highlighted that the main objective of the proposed Geo-Hub is to establish and implement a web based single gateway integrated Geographic Information System (GIS) platform to access, acquire, process, store and improve the need based utilization of geospatial information. It involves integrating high-resolution imagery, field data collection, and real-time data feeds to understand how to use the most of our limited resources for sustainable agriculture. Esri technology allows collecting, maintaining and analyzing the agriculture field data in one centralized system.

The resource persons informed that applications/ dashboard developed by Ersi India Technologies Pvt. Ltd. has been integrated with various Agriculture schemes like Integrated Soil Information system (Soil Health card), Agriculture Risk Indexing Zone Web Map (PM FasalBimaYojna), Irrigation System Mapping ( PM KrishiSinchaiYojna),  Crop Web Map(RKVY), Disease Track and Control Trend Web (MIDH) etc.

The GIS system can be used positively for improving crop production, precision farming (fertilizer application/Irrigation), monitoring plant health, weather forecasting and Crop Insurance.
