Srinagar : Police Tuesday said that it has arrested a bootlegger and also recovered from illicit liquor from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar Police said that on receiving specific inputs a police party led by SHO PS Aragam under the supervision of DySP PC Bandipora Zafar Mehdi at a checkpoint established near Wular Vintage Park Garoora intercepted a suspicious person identified as Ashiq Hussain Bhat R/o Arin Bandipora and on checking, 7 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from his possession following which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 45/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Aragam and investigation was initiated, Police in it’s statement further said that during Preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the illicit liquor was meant for sale in the area.
The police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding anti-social elements in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in anti-social activities will be dealt as per law.
