Srinagar: Girls Education Summit held on last Sunday at Kashmir Girls Institute a coaching centre set up for girls exclusively at Parraypora Srinagar has set a new trend for education empowerment of girls in Valley as this coaching centre is being run exclusively for girls aspiring to compete NEET for admission to medical and engineering courses.
The event organised to felicitate the top performers of Habba Khatoon Scholarship test and the teachers running Kashmir Girls Institute with a commitment to shape the dreams of young girls in the field of medicine and engineering was first of it’s kind ever held in any part of Kashmir Valley. The organizers had invited Neelam Seolekar the President FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) as chief guest at this key event obviously with the intents of introducing one of the top women entrepreneurs to the NEET girl aspirants of KGI Srinagar. Neelam Seolekar’s is not just President FLO but she is also the winner of “Women’s Achiever Award” and as President FLO her this year’s agenda is focused on women empowerment in India. Interestingly the husband of Neelam Seolekar who besides being a hotelier , entrepreneur, investor and a philanthropist has deep interest in education and economic empowerment of women . The invitation to Seolekar’s at this event is showing the deep interest of Kashmir Girls institute in empowerment of women through education. The visitors to this institute were greatly impressed by the infrastructure developed by it’s founders for quality coaching. The engagement of highly qualified and well trained teaching staff is giving sense of satisfaction to the parents of the girls pursuing coaching at this institute as almost all the teachers have come to take up the job of coaching at this coaching institute only after completing their post doctoral degree in different subjects. Speakers at this event including Farooq Ahmad Shah Former Secretary School Education Department and incumbent Director School Education Kashmir Dr Tassaduq Hussain exuded confidence that many more coaching centres exclusively for girls could be set in other parts of Kashmir in coming years if some success stories are scripted here in ensuing NEET examinations.
