Budgam : KrishiVigyan Kendra (KVK) Budgam, SKUAST-Kashmir on Friday organized Backyard Poultry Training cum Chick and Feed Distribution programme at the Kendra under Tribal Sub Plan component of Poultry Seed Project of Div. of LPM FVSc and A.H. SKUAST-K.
During the programme, 300 VanRaja poultry birds and feed were distributed free of cost among 30 tribal farmers of Drang area of district.
The programme was chaired by Prof. DilMohd. Makdhoomi, Director Extension SKUAST-K.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makdhoomi stressed upon the need of backyard poultry farming for improving the food and nutritional security of the rural areas.
OSD to Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K and Principal Investigator of the project, Prof. AzmatAlam Khan deliberated upon the importance of backyard poultry farming and its role in increasing the livelihood of people living in rural areas.
Among others, the programme was attended by Dr. Bilal Ahmad Lone, Sr. Scientist and Head KVK Budgam; Dr Mir Nadeem Hassan, Animal Scientist KVK Budgam and Dr. ZulfiqarUlHaq (SRF) besides the scientific staff of the Kendra.
