Mumbai Stock Exchange organises Skill Based Training Progon Mutual Fund in GDC Kathua

Kathua :  Career Counselling and placement cell, Government Degree College Kathua, in collaboration with Bombay Stock Exchange ltd, Wednesday hosted a Skill Based Training Program on Mutual Fund for pass out and final year students of the College.

The launch of the program was attended by Chief Guest, the College Principal Prof. Sumanesh  Jasrotia;   Prof. Rakesh Singh, Convener Career Counselling and Placement Cell; Kamal K. Sharma, Visiting faculty, Author and Start-up Co-founder BSE and   Shabir Ahmed, Placement Manager BSE.  The members of Career Counselling Cell Dr.AnupmaArora, Dr.Pankaj Gupta, Dr.RoshanLal, Dr.Kamaldeep ,Dr.Jasvinder Singh and faculty members of College Dr.JogbinderSoodan and  Dr.Shamsher Singh also attended the inaugural session. The training programm is being held under the aegis of “Mission Youth” initiative of Government of J&K for upgrading skills of youth in non-conventional economics sector like Banking and Financial Services having high employ-ability potential.

Prof. Sumanesh, who inaugurated and addressed the maiden batch of over 40 students, stressed on the need of conducting more such type of skill courses to enhance the employability and self-employment potential of the students which is also the objective of NEP-2020. He congratulated the Convener and members of Career Counselling and Placement Cell for taking this initiative by collaborating with BSE.

Prof. Rakesh Singh, Convener, Career Counselling and Placement cell made the students aware about the course and said that this program has been designed to attract bright young graduates/doing graduation, who wants to build a career in Banking Industry/Mutual Fund. He said that this course is a 15 day-course with a 3 hour training session per day. He further said this training course will help students to clear NISM certificate examination which will make them eligible for jobs in Banks. He further said that after the Course, the BSE will provide certificates to all enrolled students. Besides,  if students want, they can go for the NISM examination, which will give them another certificate after passing that examination.

Resource Person of the event, Kamal K. Sharma highlighted the role of Mutual fund Industry in India and across the world. He made the participants aware that after joining this course they shall be eligible for registration under National Institute of Security Markets (NISM). He said “NISM certificate is mandatory for any Bank related Job.

He also listed various other employment opportunities in the financial sector.

In the end, Dr.Pankaj Gupta presented a formal vote of thanks. It was informed that the training would start   from 15th of November and any graduate/ postgraduate student of District Kathua can register before 11th of November 2022, in the Department of Chemistry, GDC, Kathua and join the Training program from Monday.
