Rajouri : District Development Commissioner Rajouri, VikasKundalon Saturday chaired a meeting to review the preparedness of the Agriculture Department for Rabi season -2022.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Sohan Singh and other departmental functionaries were present in the meeting.
The DDC took stock of progress made in the distribution of seeds and the CAO informed that the same was being done as per the schedule.
The meeting was also apprised about the requirement of the seeds in the district and progress regarding distribution as on date.
The Chief Agriculture Officer informed that against the requirement of 10500 Quintals of Wheat seed, 6563 Quintal has already been distributed among the farmers on subsidized rates till date.
He further informed that 24.85 Quintal of Oilseeds, 6.40 Quintal of Pulses, 23.5 Quintal of Vegetable and 168.8 Quintal of fodder seed of different varieties has been distributed through 125 sale centres across the district.
Further, the Chief Agriculture Officer assured that remaining requirement of seed will be stocked in the district by 14th of November, 2022.
The Chief Agriculture Officer also said that an ample quantity of Wheat seed is available with the department and there is no need to go for Panic buying by the farmers as reported from some parts of the district and the normal sowing time of wheat crop is yet to commence.
The DDC asked the concerned officer from the Agriculture Department to ensure that the seed distribution process is completed at the earliest.
