Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, Police said that a Police party of PP Soibugh during patrolling at Warpora Soibugh, intercepted a suspicious person who on seeing police party tried to flee from the spot but police party apprehended him tactfully and identified him as Zahid Ahmad Rather S/o Gh Nabi Rather R/o Nasrulahpora Budgam.
Stating that during searches 10 grams of Heroin was recovered from the possession of the said drug peddler who has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that an FIR vide number 376/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation has been initiated, Stating therein further that after the incident, the police official confirmed that the arrested accused person is a notorious drug peddler who used to sell the drugs among the youth of Soibugh and adjoining areas.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
