Bandipora : In order to monitor functioning of the Fair Price Shops (FPSs), Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sumbal, Dr Bashir Lone on Friday visited Fair Price Shops at Sumbal.
During the visit, the SDM checked the FPSs to oversee their functioning and to ensure conformity of norms by the dealers meant for delivery of food grains, under Public Distribution System (PDS).
The visit was conducted in compliance with the directions of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Department of Food and Public Distribution, GoI, under the celebrations of “AzadiKaAmritMahotsav”.
Under the nationwide initiative, it has been decided by the Government to undertake visits to about 5000 FPSs across the country by senior officers in order to significantly enhance the visibility of FPSs, and to boost the morale of the officials/FPS owners as well as provide confidence to the beneficiaries.
This initiative has been undertaken with a holistic vision to incorporate all the aspects of the Public Distribution System.
