Distt Admin B’pora organizes awareness camp for ST community at Dawar &, Tulail Gurez

Bandipora :  The Tribal Research Institute (Department of Tribal Affairs J&K) team on Thursday stated that an enhancement of 120% in Post Matric Scholarship Scheme and inclusion of all Schedule Tribe students up to 8th class under Pre-Matric Scholarship scheme has been made throughout J&K of J&K during an awareness cum training programmes at Government Boys Higher School Dawar Gurez and at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Badugam Tulail, of Sub Division Gurez Bandipora.

The team lead by Coordinator Javaid Ahmad Parray had conducted two awareness camps related to various Schemes of Tribal Affairs Department particularly on different special Scholarship Schemes/ National Scholarship Portal and training programmes.

It was also informed by the Coordinator  that the Department has expended the network of Hostel facilities for ST students at all District Headquarters of the J&K for the welfare of the students who belongs to the far-flung areas of J&K.

He also said that the Department is also intending to start more 25 Hostels by end of the current financial year out of which 02 separate PG Girls Hostels has been made functional in both Jammu and Srinagar cities.

Department of Tribal Research Institute had started awareness cum training programs across J&K under close supervision of Dr. Shahid Iqbal Chowdhury, Secretary Tribal Affairs Department/Director Tribal Research Institute JK.

During these  awareness cum training  programmes it was informed  the due to efforts of Secretary Tribal Affairs Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary all categories of ST community were covered in pre matric scholarship scheme upto class 8th and an enhancement of 120% had been made for Post Matric Scholarship Schemes, which was earlier restricted to  only G&B students. it was also stated that  all Centrally Sponsored Scholarship  Schemes had been mapped on National Scholarship Portal (NSP) through which ST students can easily apply for these Scholarship schemes.

On the directions of the Secretary Tribal Affairs, the team of Officers/Officials also visited the different Tribal habitats of Gurez such as Neru, Bagtore, Burnai etc. where they received firsthand information of these tribal habitats and recorded their grievances for onward/immediate redressal and also awarded them about different Schemes implemented by the Tribal Affairs Department.

The technical team of Tribal Research Institute Liyaqat Ali and Javeed Ahmad Baba briefed the INO’s about eligibility criteria and guidelines of these Schemes and on-spot training to the participants for National Scholarship Portal.

Besides others, Convener Reyaz Ahmad Shah gave a brief introduction of other schemes of the Department.

The camps were attended by the ZEO Gurez, Ishtiyaq Ahmad; Principal Government Degree Colleges Tulail and Gurez, Institution Nodal Officers (INO’s) of Sub Division Gurez and various PRI.
