Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested four persons on charges of involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Budgam and also seized four vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, Police said that earlier, Police Station Budgam received inputs about illegal extraction and transportation of clay at Sholipora Budgam and while acting swiftly, a Police party of PS Budgam raided the specific location and seized 3 tippers and a JCB besides, arrested 4 persons identified as Gulzar Ahmed Ganie R/o New Colony Kakanmaran, Imityaz Ahmad ChopanR/o Sholipora Budgam, Mohammad Ashraf Mir &Farooq Ahmed Khuchoo both residents of Firdous Colony Bemina involved in the commission of crime and later on, they have been shifted to PS where they remain in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR Number 374/2022 was also registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation has been initiated, Police in it’s above referred statement reiterated that persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
