Rajouri : Environmental Sciences, Centre for Biodiversity Studies, School of Biosciences and Biotechnology BGSB University, Rajourion Tuesday organized an awareness program on the Vigilance Awareness Week on 1st November 2022.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office, BGSBU Rajouir, Prof. Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor, BGSBU in his message expressed that Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) is being celebrated every year and coincides with the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known to be a man of high integrity. In pursuit of the vision of the Government of India to make a New India by the year 2022, which is the 75th anniversary of our independence, the Central Vigilance Commission, as the apex integrity institution of the country, endeavours to promote integrity, transparency and accountability in public life, said Prof. Akbar Masood. The Vice-Chancellor mentioned that every citizen must individually and collectively contribute to the prevention of corruption and malpractices and to raise public awareness regarding the existence, causes and consequences of corruption, and unethical practices.
On this occasion, Dr. A. A. Shah, Associate Dean School of Biosciences and Biotechnology while addressing the staff and students of the School of Biosciences and Biotechnology said that Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week every year is part of the multi-pronged approach to raising public awareness regarding the existence, causes and gravity of and the threat posed by corruption.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Shreekar Pant, Coordinator, of the Centre for Biodiversity Studies, emphasized Corruption can be defined as dishonest or unethical conduct by a person entrusted with a position of authority, either to obtain a benefit for oneself or some other person. It is, therefore, imperative that the public be sensitized and motivated towards efforts for weeding out corruption.
In a concluding para of the statement, while addressing the gathering, Dr. MamtaBhat, Assistant Professor conducted the proceedings and the programme culminated with the students, research scholars and staff members administering of Vigilance awareness pledge for the fight against corruption.
