4th NCORD Committee meetheld at Doda

PSA slapped on 3-habitual offenders: SSP

Doda :  Fourth Narco Coordination Committee(NCORD) meeting was held last evening here in the DC office under the Chairmanship of District Magistrate , Vishesh Paul Mahajan to take stock of the efforts made by the designated members against the drug abuse in the district.

SSP, Abdul Qayoom – the convener of the Committee presented the latest developments and activities taken up in the district by the intending departments. He informed the Committee that the mass level awareness has been generated through different means of media and promotional activities during ongoing B2V4 programmes coupled with measures to keep strict vigil on the drug trafficking. “As many as 38 cases have been registered against 42 drug peddlers under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and 34 notorious drug Peddlers have been booked under Preventive detention, while 3 persons have been booked under PSA in the district, besides making huge seizures of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances”, he added.

The DM directed the Forest, Agriculture and other concerned departments to come up with a proposal for plantation of useful vegetation to replace the wild cannabis (Bhang) in the district. The police and sub divisional administrations were directed to carry out joint Cannabis destruction Exercise by involving PRIs and other stakeholders.

The DC directed the education, health and police department to conduct awareness/ health check up of students in all Degree Colleges, Higher Secondaries and High Schools under the direct supervision of SDMs and Tehsildars of the area. He directed to complete the exercise by the end of November this year.

Seeking strict enforcement of drug control rules, he asked the ADCs, SDMs and Tehsildars to ensure mandatory maintaining of record of sale of psychotropic drugs and installation of CCTVs by the medical stores.

The DC stressed upon the members to ensure effective implementation of the directions aiming at to curb the drug abuse in the district.

The meeting was attended by, ADC DodaDr R K Bharti, ACR DodaAshfaqKhanji, SDM Assar Lekh Raj, SDM ThathriAthar Amin Zargar, DIO Doda and Drugs Inspector Manesh Gupta. The meeting was also attended virtually by SSP ANTF, Superintendent NCB Jammu, ADC Bhaderwah, SDM Gandoh, DFO Bhaderwah, DFO Batote, Divisional Officer PCC, and other concerned officers.
