Srinagar : As a mark of honour and part of commemorating the sacrifices of Police martyrs, Police in Handwara organised a “Run for Unity” event which was flagged off by ASP Handwara Irshad Hussain besides DySP DAR Handwara and other officers of Handwara Police also witnessed the event. The event was participated by Students of various schools and Local Youth and was categorized into two age groups viz below 18 and above 18.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar, police said that the event was started from Chotipora Crossing and culminated at Environmental Hall Handwara. The event was organized to give boost to the sports activities and channelize youth energy in positive manner and to re-affirm the inherent strength of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity. Police congratulated the winner and runner up and distributed the prizes among the 1st, 2nd and 3rd on both age groups respectively.
On the conclusion of the event, rich tributes were paid to the police martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the peace and prosperity of the nation. Police thanked the participants for their active participation in the event to honour the Police Martyrs.
