Srinagar: J&K Director General of Police Dilbag Singh on Sunday said security forces have this year smashed the leadership of militant outfits and also killed nearly 40 Pakistani militants during the operations.

DGP said this on the sidelines of “Kashmir Marathon-2022″ organised by the J&K police in Srinagar.

“The structure of the terrorist organizations has been destroyed and their leadership has been smashed. The Pakistan agencies always want to keep command of outfits outfits like Lashkar (-e-Taiba) and Jaish (-e-Mohammad) with Pakistan origin terrorists so that they could directly control the violence from across.,” DGP told reporters. ” In successful operations during this year and about 40 foreign terrorist were neutralized in different operations this year so far.”

He said Pakistan is still trying to infiltrate more militants into the region and some of these attempts have been successful.
“ We are keeping an eye on that too,” DGP said.
He said foreign militants lure the local youth to the militant rank so as to destroy the peace here.
DGP said since the winter is approaching, there would be stepped up attempts from Pakistan to push more foreign militants into the Kashmir Valley.

“With the approaching winter Pakistan and its agencies will try to use this window which is available to send more and more men here for terrorist activities, but our security grid on the borders are active and alert which has foiled several infiltration attempts in the past,” he said.

DGP said there are reports that some infiltrators have succeeded in crossing the borders and are active at places and the security forces are on their jobs to neutralise them very soon.

He said infiltration from across the border was to a great extent under control compared to previous years.
“But attempts are being made to send terrorists this side from across the border for spreading terrorism,” he added.
DGP said that “ready to use” improvised explosive devices (IEDs) are aimed at inflicting maximum damage to forces and less to militants.

“ These IEDs are low cost for terrorist … Pakistan and its agencies are making efforts to continue terrorist strikes in Jammu and Kashmir by using such IEDs. We have been successful to a great extent to seize such IEDs before the neutralization to save loss of life and property. But it is the trend of Pakistan and its agencies to send such IEDs here to cause damage to the life and prosperity to get success in their nefarious designs,” he said.

“In a few operations dozens of ready to use IEDs were also seized but unfortunately in few places the militants managed to explode them in the Jammu region where casualties and loss to the property was caused,” he added.
