Srinagar : The Police in Kulgam on Saturday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from the Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, Police said that a Police party of PP Frisal at a checkpoint established at Tengbal crossing intercepted a vehicle (Truck) bearing Registration No: JK08E-1795 driven by Saleem Mohd Fakeer S/o Liyaqat Ali Faqeer R/o Basoli.
Stating that during searches officers recovered 10 kgs of Poppy Straw from the possession of the above named drug peddler, Police in it’s statement further said that the driver of the vehicle on this occasion was arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, Stating therein further that police also registered an FIR No. 84/2022 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Yaripora and further investigation has been taken up.
In a concluding para of the above referred statement, Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will strictly be dealt as per law of the land. Police in it’s above quoted statement also reassured the people that efforts are on to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
