Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has busted a human trafficking gang by arresting three accused involved in the commission of crime. During this operation, Police said that 14 women victims have also been rescued and more arrests are expected in the instant case.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar police said that while acting upon inputs about human trafficking being operational in Budgam district a police team of police station Budgam raided a particular place in village Dulipora and rescued 14 women victims (including some minors) from the house of one namely Shamim Ahmad Bhat S/o Ab Rehman Bhat R/o Dulipora Parthan and adjacent places.
Stating that police while acting swiftly arrested Shamim Ahmad and other two accused namely Shagufta W/o Bashir Ahmad Wani and Asmat W/o Shafiq Ahmad Wani both residents of Dulipora Parthan, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that an FIR vide No. 370/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at police Station Budgam, in this connection.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that during preliminary investigation, it has been found that the three accused arrested so for are involved in human trafficking by means of procuring the girls from different places and exploiting them in district Budgam and other parts of the valley, Stating therein further that further investigation into the case is going on and more arrests are expected.
In a concluding para of the above quoted statement, police said that rescued human trafficking victims have been shifted to Nari Niketan Rehabilitation Centre Chadoora and process for their rehabilitation has been initiated.
