Kishtwar: Social Welfare Department Kishtwar, in Collaboration with Artificial Limbs Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a public sector enterprises functioning under the control of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Govt of India Thursday organised a prosthetic aid Distribution camp under Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) scheme here in Sounder Dachhan.
The camp was held under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer, Zubair Ahmed Lone and under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Dr. DevanshYadav.
Different aids and appliances were distributed among 108 beneficiaries which included Wheelchairs Adult and small, CP Chairs, Hearing Aids, MSIED kit, Smart Cane, Daisy Players, Braille Kit, Crutches, Walking Sticks, RollatorCallipers etc.
TehsildarDachhan, Block Development Officer Dachhan,Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Marwah, Field Officer from Elder line and staff of Social Welfare Department Kishtwar, besides scores of prominent persons of the area including Sarpanches, Panches also marked their presence on the occasion.
The main objective of the scheme is to assist the needy disabled persons by providing durable, sophisticated and scientifically manufactured, modern standard aids and appliances to promote physical social, psychological rehabilitation of persons with disabilities by reducing the effects of disabilities and at the same time enhance their economic potential.
Assistive devices were given to persons with Disabilities (PwDs) with an aim to improve their independent functioning and to arrest the extent of disability and occurrence of secondary disability.
Besides distribution of Prosthetic aids, Senior Citizens clubs were also formed for Panchayat Sounder-A and Sounder- B.
Awareness was also imparted to Senior citizens regarding registration for issuance of Age Certificate, registration of PWD voters for issuance of EPIC card, registration for UDID cards, Elder line and other welfare schemes run by the Social Welfare Department.
