Police organises Thana Diwas in Awantipora , B’gam

Srinagar : As part of public outreach programme and an initiative of Government of J&K, Police in Awantipora on Thursday organised Thana Diwas at al Police Stations throughout the Police District. Moreover, Thana Diwas was also organised in Budgam at Townhall Khansahib, Police Station Beerwah and Police Station Khag.

According to a statement issued from Zonal police Headquarters, Srinagar Police said that in Awantipora, Police have organised Thana Diwas at Police Staiton Awantipora, PS Tral, PS Pampore, PS Khrew, Police Post Aripal and Police Post Reshipora.

The event was chaired by concerned SDPOs along with SHOs/Incharge Police Posts. The meetings were attended by various associations and respectables of concerned areas.Meanwhile in Budgam, Police have also organised Thana Diwas at Townhall Khansahib, Police Station Beerwah and Police Station Khag. At Townhall Khansahib, the event was chaired by SDPO Khansahib Ghulam Mohidin Malik  alongwith SHO PS Khansahib. At Police Station Khag “Thana Diwas” event was chaired by SHO PS Khag and other officers. Meanwhile, at PS Beerwah the event was chaired by SHO PS Beerwah along with AEE R&B Department Zubair Ahmed and AE PDD Department Owais Ahmed. The meetings were attended by various associations and respectables of concerned areas including imams, Molvis, Trade fraternity representatives, transport union members, Sarpanchs and Panchs etc.

Police in it’s statement  also said that during these meetings, participants highlighted various grievances/issues of public importance. They were assured that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and grievances pertaining to civil administration will be taken up with the concerned Departments for their early redressal.

Speaking on the occasions, the chairing officers reiterated that the main aim of organising ‘Thana Diwas’ is to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability in Policing at grass-root level and to hear grievances of general public, besides seek support and active cooperation in maintaining L&O, curbing drug menace and others social evils in the areas. The participants appreciated the gesture of Police and assured their cooperation in eradication of social evils from the society. They also lauded the role of Police for conducting such interactive meetings which further boost Community Policing and Public confidence.
