2 drug peddlers arrested in B’pora & B’gam, contraband substance also recovered : Police

Srinagar : The Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers in two different in Bandipora and Budgam districts with a huge amount of contraband substance with them.

In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the police post Narbal Magam during night patrolling near village Yarigund signaled a vehicle (Load carrier Auto) bearing registration number JK01L-8141 to stop, which tried to flee after noticing Police Party but due to alertness of police party, the vehicle was intercepted.

Stating that during searches 21Kgs of cannabis leaves like substance was recovered from the said load carrier, Police in it’s statement further said that the accused has been identified as Tasaduq Ahmad Ganie S/o Mohammad Subhan Ganie R/o Yarigund who has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Police in it’s above referred statement also said that the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized and a case vide FIR No. 157/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Magam and further investigation has been initiated.

Meanwhile, in a similar incident, police in Bandipora also while acting on a specific inputs about the movement of drug peddlers in Braripora Bankote area deputed a police party led by SHO PS Pethkote under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Bandipora which laid a special checkpoint at Darmahama road and arrested one suspecte identified as Reyaz Ahmad lone S/o Ali Mohd Lone R/o BrariporaBankote.

Stating that during searches officers recovered Charas like substance concealed in a polythene bag from the possession of the said accused, Police in the above referred statement said that the said accused been shifted to police station where he remains in custody and subsequently a case vide FIR No.45/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pethkote and investigation has been initiated.

In the concluding para of the above referred statement, police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will strictly be dealt as per law.
