Jan Bhagidaari campaign: DG Social Welfare conducts whirlwind tour of Kishtwar

DG also Visits Bal Ashram, old age home, forms Senior Citizens’ Club in HidyalPanchayat

Kishtwar :  Director General Social Welfare Jammu, Vivek Sharma, is on two days tour to Kishtwar district under the ongoing Jan Bhagidaari campaign launched by the J&K Govt as a prelude to Back to Village 4 program.

The DG visited Children home Palaash, wherein she interacted with the inmates of the Children home and took first hand appraisal of the facilities being provided to them. She also distributed blankets among the inmates of the Children home.

The DG SWD also visited the newly established old age home to assess the facilities being provided to the inmates by the Asrariya Institute of Technical Education.

Later, the DG  visited Hidyalpanchayat where she interacted with PRIs and also distributed wheelchairs among the specially abled persons of the Panchayat .

Earlier, an awareness program on BetiBachaoBetiPadhao was also organised in the conference Hall of New DC Office complex attended by students of different institutions, Anganwadi workers/AWHs,Staff of MSK and staff of social welfare department. Besides a singing program, NukkadNatak, dance and poem recitation programmes were also organised after which the participants were also felicitated by the DG SWD.

The DG also visited District Hospital Kishtwar and distributed baby Kits among the new born girl child as an initiative to honour the birth of Girl child.

Speaking on the occasion the DG put main thrust on grassroots level awareness about the BetiBachaoBetiPadhao program, besides directing the department to mobilise an active campaign in all the parts of the district regarding NashaMukht Bharat in coordination with Young generation, civil society and other stakeholders. The  DG stressed on 100 percent saturation of various Social Security Schemes.

The DG also visited   Government Degree College to inspect the progress of work on SC hostel  being constructed under BJRCY . She  issued directions to speed up the execution of balance work in a time bound manner, and also took stock of the working of the department in the District.

The DG was accompanied by DSWO KishtwarZubair Ahmed Lone,Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Kishtwar, Babu Ram Sharma, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Chatroo, Rajesh Sharma, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Paddar, Chetna Sharma and other staff members of Social Welfare Department.
