DC Kupwara reviews winter preparedness, supply position

DM also takes detailed review of power scenario in the Distt

Kupwara :  The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, DoifodeSagarDattatrayon Friday convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the winter preparedness and snow clearance preparation besides, stock and supply position of essential commodities in border and snow bound areas of the district.

The meeting was informed that 65600 quintal rice has been dumped in Karnah, Machill, Keran, Budnamal, Jumgund and Kumkadi under NFSA and PMGKY. This ration will cater to the needs of border people up to June 2023. Similarly, 1865 quintal flour, 174 quintal sugar, 83500 litre K-Oil and 13080 LPG cylinders have been dumped in these areas.

The meeting was further informed that 85 percent ration and other essential commodities have also been dumped in 143 sale centres of the district for a 4 months duration which experiences heavy snow during winter.

The meeting also informed that there is sufficient stock of ration and LPG in the plains of the district.

The DC while addressing the meeting stressed upon the concerned officers to ensure dumping of the remaining quota immediately to avoid any inconvenience.

JD Planing and AD Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs were present at the occasion.

Meanwhile, the DC in a separate meeting took a detailed review of the power scenario in the district.  He was informed that 80 MW power is being added to the district grid, increasing from the present capacity of 140 MWs to 220 MWs which will improve the power supply in the district during winter.

He was informed that work is apace on augmentation of Arampora and Villgam grid stations and 25 MW additional supply has become available.

The DC directed the concerned engineers to speed up the execution and ensure completion before the onset of winter. He also directed other line departments to make added efforts for completion of all ongoing developmental works.
