4630 Soakage pits constructed, 91 major water bodies renovated under MGNREGA at B’pora

Bandipora :  The Chairman, District Development Council (DDC) Bandipora, Abdul GaniBhat on Thursday chaired a meeting of officers to review the progress of various developmental works in the district.

Additional District Development Commissioner Afsar Ali Khan, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Joint Director Planning were present in the meeting along with other officers.

Vice-Chairperson KounserShafeeq, DDC members, BDC Chairperson and BDC members were also present in the meeting

On the occasion ADDC Bandipora gave a detailed presentation of the ongoing developmental activities taking place in the district besides informing the chair about the physical and financial expenditure in Capex, PRI Grants.

It was given out that Rs 4.50 Crore have been utilized under MGNREGA out of the total allocated budget of Rs 5.96 cr. ADDC informed that durable assets have been created under the scheme in rural areas with special focus on conservation of water bodies and saving every drop of water that falls on earth besides providing assured employment to the unskilled and unemployed youth of the villages.

He said 4630 soakage pits have been constructed under the scheme while 91 major water bodies have been renovated so far under AmritSarovar.

DDC Chairperson on the occasion instructed the officers to ensure cent percent utilization of funds besides generating more mandays to ensure maximum employment is provided to the people besides taking up works of public importance.

The meeting was further informed that under J&KCapex Budget, work is going on over 50 projects while five works have already been completed out of the 58 approved works.

ADDC said Rs 2.79 Cr have been released for the purpose out of which Rs 1.39 Cr funds have been utilized.

The members were informed that under the rural connectivity component, construction of 23 new roads was approved out of which work is going on 17 roads till date.

While informing the meeting about the expenditure under District Capex Budget, ADDC informed the chair that out of 751 PRI works, 503 works have been taken up while 231 works stand completed.

He said under BDC grants, 52 works have been taken up so far while under DDC grants 34 works have been taken up  for completion.

The DDC Chairperson took a detailed review of all the works and got the update about each undergoing project.

The meeting also discussed the bottlenecks that hinder the early completion of the projects. Several issues were resolved immediately during the meeting while directions were passed to resolve other issues, if any, at the earliest.

Bhat urged the officers and the PRI members to work in close coordination for early competition of ongoing projects. He assured district administration of every possible help to ensure the developmental projects are implemented in the district and completed at earliest.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of Deliverables, preparation for Jan Abhiyaan and other development programmes.
