Srinagar : Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested four persons and seized 5 vehicles from them on charges of involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in district Budgam.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, Police said that it had received inputs about illegal extraction of soil/boulders from Nallah Sukhnag and accordingly a Police party of PP Hardpanzoo raided the specific location and seized 2 tippers and arrested two persons involved in the commission of crime.
In it’s statement Police further said that a Police party of Police Station Budgam during patrolling at Tilanpora seized a JCB and two tractors for their involvement in illegal extraction of minerals besides, Stating therein further the two accused were also arrested and a case was also registered under relevant sections of law at the respective police Stations. Police said that it has also initiated a further course of investigation in this connection.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt strictly with as per law and also appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
