Awareness Prog held on Breast Cancer held at GDC Shopian

Shopian : The Department of Bioresources, University of Kashmir and Govt. Degree College Shopian jointly organized a day-long awareness programme on ‘Breast Cancer’ as part of observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Besides, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Dar, Principal Govt. Degree College Shopian, the programme was attended by faculty members Prof. Tariq Hussain Mir, Prof. Muhammad NayeemurRehman, Dr. Umar Farooq, Dr. IrfanGul, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Malik and Dr. Aijaz Ahmad Wachkoo, besides the several female participating students.

The programme was conducted to create awareness regarding breast cancer. Resource person for the event Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Mir, Coordinator, Dept. of Bioresources covered themes like risk factors, symptoms, prevention strategies, screening and early detection of breast cancer for its early treatment.

Prof. Bashir Ahmad Dar while welcoming the resource person congratulated and acknowledged the role of Department of Bioresources in conducting such awareness programmes. He emphasized on awareness and discussed the emerging trends of cancers globally.

Dr. Aijaz Ahmad Wachkoo, coordinator of the programme conducted the overall proceedings of the event. He presented a detailed introduction about the programme and highlighted the need of such outreach programmes.

Prof. Muhammad NayeemurRehman lauded the efforts of Resource Person in reaching out to masses and thanked the Principal Prof. Bashir Ahmad Dar for providing full support to the programme.

The participating students appreciated the college authorities for organizing different programmes for their welfare.
