8 accused arrested for illegal extraction & transportation of minerals in G’bal, 8 vehicles seized on spot: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested eight persons and seized 8 vehicles from their possession while they were trying to extract and transport the minerals illegally in Ganderbal district.

In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, Police said that a special police team headed by SHO PS Ganderbal and SHO PS Kheerbawani under the supervision of Dy SPHqrs Ganderbal arrested 8 persons and seized 8 vehicles (06 Tippers, 02 Tractors) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Nallah Sindh Ganderbal.

Stating that the accused persons have been identified as Zahid Ahmad Dar S/o Nisar Ahmad Dar R/o Gangerhuma, Fayaz Ahmad Malik S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Malik R/o ChakFatehpora, Mustafa Ahmad ZargarS/o Gh Mohd ZargarR/o TheeruLar, Bilal Ahmad SofiS/o Nazir Ahmad SofiR/o Watalbagh, Faizan Ahmad Dar S/o Ali Mohd Dar R/o Search, MohdRafiq Dar S/o Mohd Ramzan Dar R/o Search, Khurshid Ah Dar S/o Ali Mohd Dar R/o Hakeem Gund and Ajaz Ahmad Dar S/o Ab Salaam Dar R/o Gangerhama and have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that after taking the above named accused into custody, it has registered cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated to ascertain the actual facts.

Police in a concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
