SIU conducts searches at 7 locations in Pulwama

'Searches aimed to eliminate militant ecosystem in distt'

Srinagar: The SIU team of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday conducted searches at seven different locations in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
An official said that SIU conducted searches at residence of Jahangir Ganaie and Younis Ahmad Mir in Armulla Pulwama besides that they conducted searches at residence of Farooq Ahmad Dar in Niloora Pulwama.
He said that trio has been already arrested in case under FIR number 65/22 in Police station Litter.
Official added that SIU conducted searches at residences of Bilal Ahmad Sheikh of Jandwal Pulwama and Mohammad Maqbool Mala of Bandzov Pulwama.
He said that searches are going on in connection with IED case in Pulwama district.
Notably on 16 June this year, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) material was recovered from an orchard at Aramulla in Lassipora Litter area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama.
Moreover, an IED weighing around 25 to 30 Kgs was recovered on circular road in Pulwama by joint team of police and security forces on 10 August.
Meanwhile continuing its crackdown on militant elements Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Pulwama on Tuesday conducted raids at seven different locations of district Pulwama viz Armulla, Bandzoo, Jandwal, Niloora, regarding an IED case in Pulwama in which seven (07) accused persons were involved and accordingly booked in case FIR No 65 of 2022 U/S 18,23,39 UAP Act, 4/5 Explosive substance Act registered at Police Station Litter.
During search, SIU Pulwama seized important documents including passports, bank account passbooks, digital devices etc. “Proper SOPs were followed during the raids.”
It is pertinent to mention that the accused persons are presently detained in Sub-Jail Pulwama.
The searches were conducted to collect more evidence of their involvement in other militant crimes. “Searches are aimed to eliminating the militant ecosystem in the district by identifying various over ground workers and supporters of militancy.”
