DC G’bal inaugurates Expo-cum-Job Fair at GDC

238 Unemployed youth, Jobseekers Shortlisted for job; 35 Jobseekers shortlisted for training

Ganderbal :  Expo cum Job Fair was organized on Tuesday by District Employment &Counselling Centre, Ganderbal at Govt. Degree College, Ganderbal which was inaugurated by the District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Shyambir.

Speaking on the occasion the District Development Commissioner stressed upon acquiring relevant skills to increase employability. He stressed upon installation of suggestion cum complaint box and asked the participants to share their feedback regarding the Job fair so that improvement in the upcoming events is ensured accordingly.

The purpose of the fair was to explore the Career opportunities within the district having various companies on board at one platform. In the fair 11 reputed National &  Domestic companies participated including LIC India, SBI Life, JamkashVehicleades, Arise Hyundai Ganderbal, Tata Motors etc.

238 candidates were shortlisted for further process of selection and 35 candidates were registered for training (skilling) by RSETI.

There was an over whelming response from the job seekers and more than 900 unemployed youth attended the fair.

Almost 132 candidates were registered on the Employment Portal integrated into the National Career Service Portal. The job seekers expressed satisfaction after having interaction with various companies and wished for the same kind of fairs in the District in future.

The Job fair was attend by the Principal Govt. Degree, College Ganderbal, Fouzia Fatima who emphasized candidates to focus on traditional crafts to earn their livelihood.

Eco-Entrepreneur, founder of Sagg ECO Village, Fayaz Ahmad Dar spoke about goal setting & goal achieving. Rouf Ahmad Khan, Faculty Member, JKEDI deliberated about Entrepreneurship as a Career Option. Most of the speakers on the occasion spoke about skill development to increase employability of job seekers.
