Srinagar : Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr. Asgar Hussain Samoon, on Monday chaired a meeting to review progress on STRIVE Project and Model ITI besides assessing Human Resource Development and other issues of the department.
The STRIVE Project is aimed at integrating and enhancing delivery quality of ITIs. In order to ensure achievement of outcome, these ITIs are being competitively selected for up gradation under the scheme.
The meeting was attended by Director SDD, Mission Director SDD, State Engagement Officer, NSDC, Deputy Director, Trainings representative of Indian Institute of Management and HOI’s of STRIVE and Model ITIs, representative of Bari Brahmana Industries Association Jammu and other officers both in person and online.
Dr Samoon said that all the institutional structures had been constituted for implementation of STRIVE Project under which the selected ITIs have been upgraded in terms of ICT infrastructure, machinery equipments and other allied facilities for trainees. Besides, 1048 trainees of ITIs have been provided on job training while 355 officers, officials and other faculty have completed capacity building learning through reputed institutes of the J&K and country as well.
While deliberating on several aspects, Principal Secretary approved redistribution plan of funds across result areas in order to achieve 75% fund utilization, the requisite target to claim next trench of funds and impressed upon the officers and HOIs to compete the target ending October, 2022.
Regarding Model ITIs, Principal Secretary impressed upon the officers to implement the Institute Implantation Plan in letter and spirit and accordingly utilize the funds released for up-gradation of existing government ITI Srinagar into Model ITI. He also asked for completion of PFMS mapping within next two days.
Principal Secretary stressed upon the authorities of Industrial Associations to complete the capacity building programme of Managers of Member Industries in a time bound manner by following up with reputed institutions of the country particularly regarding implementation of Apprenticeship Training Scheme in the Industries of the J&K.
Principal Secretary further delved upon the officers and representatives of various allied offices to exhibit full commitment towards implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes in a mission mode as this is a great opportunity to upgrade the skill development infrastructure in the J&K. He directed all the concerned to work in a coordinated manner so that set objectives are accomplished.
