Jammu : The Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), on Monday started two day training on Public Financial Management System here at Panchayat Bhawan, Jammu.
The programme was inaugurated through virtual mode by Commissioner Secretary, Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj, MandeepKaur, who is also the Chairperson of J&K IWMP.
Chief Executive Officer, IWMP, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Financial Advisor/CAO, Ashok Kumar IWMP District Project Managers of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri, Poonch and Doda, District Level Technical Experts, Data Entry Operators and Accounts Assistants of all the seventeen project districts of the Union Territory participated in the training programme.
MandeepKaur, while delivering inaugural address, underscored the need for training of the staff of IWMP on PFMS given the fact that under new generation watershed projects most of the engaged staff is fresh and its orientation to the financial tools is most important to implement the scheme effectively. She added that more training programmes will be conducted in near future by roping in national level bodies like NIRD and PR Hyderabad for capacity building of IWMP manpower.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan hoped that the training will equip the staff with latest interventions in PFMS and immensely help in programme implementation. He added that primary function of PFMS is to facilitate sound Public Financial System by establishing an efficient fund flow system as well as a payment cum accounting network.
Kuldeep Singh and Rohit Tikku, PFMS experts from State PFMS Cell J&K imparted the training along with hands on demonstration.
