Anantnag : Agriculture Production Department Anantnagon Saturday launched a Rabi Campaign which was celebrated across length and breadth of the district.
The campaign was inaugurated by Farooq Ahmad Bhat, Joint Director Agriculture Inputs Kashmir by sowing Oilseed crop at Zirpara.
During the Rabi Campaign Joint Director Inputs Kashmir accompanied by Chief Agriculture Officer Anantnag and other officers participated in various agriculture operations of Rabi crops on farmers’ fields at Malpora, Subhanpora and Zirpora.
While Agriculture Extension officers embarked the Rabi campaign in their respective zones viz. Larnoo, Vailoo, Achabal, Shangus, Talwani, Ranipora, Qazigund, Verinag, Larkipora, Ashajipora, Mtattan, Sirgufwara, Batkote and Salia.
The campaign focuses on encouraging farmers to bring more and more areas under oilseed cultivation as the price of edible oil is touching new heights day by day in the market. The awareness about the latest techniques and use of high yielding varieties has been the prime objective of organizing the campaign.
Joint Director Agriculture in his address appreciated the change in mindset of the officers towards modern science lead extension on the farmer’s field. Although he cautioned about the production challenges lying ahead for realization of production gap in case of oilseeds and put forth the roadmap forward for achieving the intended targets.
AijazHussain Dar (Chief agriculture Officer Anantnag), Reyaz Ahmad Malik (District Agriculture Officer Extension Anantnag), FidaHussain Shah (District Agriculture Officer Inputs Anantnag), Hilal Ahmad Geeri (SMS Achabal), Vijay Beer Singh SDAO (Dooru), Abid Ali Khan (SDAO Achabal) and progressive farmers of district were present at the event.
