Srinagar : Chairman, Jammu & Kashmir People’s Democratic Front (JKPDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Saturday alleged  neglect in the development of  Doodhpathri , Tossamaidan and Yusmarg  tourist places .He said vast tourism potential of these bewitching natural tourist places  has remained unexploited so far due to  government apathy .

According to a statement issued by the party here, Hakeem  has pooh poohed government claim  about tapping new  virgin tourist places  adding that  despite inviting attention of the government towards development of Doodhpathri , Tossamaidan and Yusmarg tourist places , no step has been taken for the purpose. ” There was dire need to  create  basic tourism infrastructure to exploited vast tourism potential  in these natural  tourist destinations  ,” Hakeem Yaseen  said while lambasting government for  its lackadaisical  approach  in this regard.  He said government was only busy in advertising some already  known tourist places like Gulmarg  ,Pahalgam, Sonamarg ,ignoring that Doodhpathri, Tossamaidan and Yusmarg tourist places also need to be promoted in the interest of overall tourism industry and local  populace. He said the vast tourism potential of Doodhpathri, Tossamaidan and Yusmargtourist ,  if  exploited optimally , would give a new direction to tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir , besides creating vast job avenues for the local youth . He said these tourist places are located nearer to the Shiekh-  ul – Alam International Airport and Railway Station Budgam which was a plus point in the way of  promotion of tourism. He said that tourism sector was the backbone of local economy adding that government should  fully exploit adventure and  winter tourism potential of these tourist places .

The PDF Chairman has said that all the three tourism development authorities (TDAs ) of Doodhpathri, Tossamaidan and Yusmarg were deadly defunct due to lack of manpower and requisite funds. He has urged the government to make these TDSs fully functional by providing adequate staff and requisite funds for various tourism related development works.

According to a concluding para of the above referred statement, Yaseen on this occasion has also reiterated  his demanded  for development of Doodhpathri, Tossamaidan and Yusmarg tourist circuit  to give big  boost to the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
