National Service Scheme Unit ‘Prabha’ and the Eco Club of Government Degree College Ramgarh on Saturday conducted a cleanliness drive under the ‘Clean India 2.0 Campaign.’

The NCC student volunteers carried out a cleanliness drive in the surroundings of a water body in the nearby area of the College. The event was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Satinder Kaur, the College Principal.

Dr. Shamsher Lal, NSS Programme Officer, along with NSS committee and Eco Club members and volunteers, carried out the drive.

At the outset, Dr. Shamsher briefed the volunteers regarding water pollution and its adverse effects on the environment as a whole. He also highlighted the importance of keeping the water bodies clean and pollution free.

Dr. Anjali Bala, Convener of the Eco Club, highlighted some of the methods to clean the polluted water bodies. She also said that the water in the water bodies, such as rivers, canals, ponds, etc., is used by both humans and the animals. These water bodies are a home to a variety of many animals, birds, etc.

Dr. Ekta Rani and Dr. Rahul Kundal also accompanied the NSS volunteers.

A large number of volunteers participated in the cleanliness drive and cleaned the said water body. The collected waste was disposed of on a designated site.
