DC Ramban reviews achievements under Agri, allied sectors

Over 45K cattle vaccinated against Lumpy Skin Disease, process continue across distt

Ramban :  District Development Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam on Saturday convened a meeting of senior officers of the District Administration to review the physical and financial progress under different schemes being implemented by the Agriculture and allied departments in the district

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Dr.KasturiLal; Chief Agriculture Officer, Dr.Ashwani Sharma;   Chief Horticulture Officer, Anil Gokha; Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr. Bharat Bhushan; District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Dr Vikas Gupta; District Social Welfare Officer, Rahul Gupta and Assistant Director Fisheries, Fayez Ahmed and several other officers.

While reviewing the progress on various schemes, department-wise, the DDC directed the officers to focus on improving the ranking on Deliverable indicators of their respective departments by implementing all the schemes in letter and spirit on the ground to improve the public delivery system.

Inquiring about the activities of Animal Husbandry department, the DDC was informed by the CHO that 45,200 cattle have been vaccinated against Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in the district so far and   more 5,000 doses have been provided to the field staff to vaccinate the rest of cattle.

He further informed that out of total 311 infected animals, 171 have recovered and 133 active cases are under treatment in the district while 7 cattle died due to the infection.  The RR teams have also collected 44 samples from infected animals to diagnose the disease, he added.

Regarding progress achieved under the departmental schemes, he informed that 136 units have been established in the district under the Integrated Dairy Development Scheme (IDDS) and a subsidy of Rs.2.5 crore has been released through DBT mode in favor of the beneficiaries.

The DDC also took stock of the vaccination of livestock by the Sheep Husbandry Department to protect sheep and goats from various deadly diseases. He also took up the issue of vaccination supply with higher authorities.

The DDC also took firsthand appraisal about progress on off-season and on-season activities under the Agriculture, Horticulture, and Fisheries sectors besides reviewing physical and financial achievement under different schemes of the allied departments.

Further, the Chief Agriculture Officer informed the meeting about the progress on the PM Kissan scheme.
