Srinagar : People’s Alliance for Gapkar Declaration (PAGD) has alleged that the central government has deprived the people of Jammu and Kashmir of all freedoms, even the freedom to breathe has become impossible.

The time has come for all political parties of Jammu and Kashmir to fight together against the central governments repressive policies against the people, spokesman of the PAGD Mohammad Yousuf Targami said during a press conference here in Srinagar on Saturday.

He said a meeting of PAGD was held under the chairmanship of Dr Farooq Abdullah during which it was observed that since the article 370 was abrogated from Jammu and Kashmir, the situation has turned worst and people fear in taking their breath even.

He alleged that the constitutional rights are being suppressed…freedom of speech, freedom of press, even freedom to live have become impossible.

Targami said “parents are seen sitting outside every police station waiting to meet their children and now there is no space to keep Kashmirs in the jails outside”.

He said the frequent visits by the Union Ministers to Jammu and Kashmir is just to intensify the pressure so that whoever raises his voice is punished and put in jail.

He said if Jammu and Kashmir is being turned into the Gujarat model why wine and other products are being allowed to sell in open markets.

Talking about the decree of the administration in which the Tehsildar was empowered to grant the right to vote any person, Targami said “it is the power of the Election Commission to grant the right to vote to a citizen…how can the government issue a decree”, he questioned

He said “then the next day the media is told that this decree has been revoked, isn’t this a mockery of democracy”.

On the occasion Dr Farooq Abdullah said “I want to ask the government where the promise of providing 50,000 jobs gone”. He said the situation is very awkward as the graph of unemployment is increasing day by day.
