Kathua :  Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Pandey on Thursday  chaired a meeting of District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) to discuss the plan for effective utilization of funds collected by the trust.

During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held regarding the utilization of funds available with the trust as per PMKKKY guidelines. All the members gave their valuable suggestions regarding the utilization of funds in various sectors including education, sanitation, health, social welfare, labour, JJM, PWD etc keeping in view the requirement to be fulfilled on urgent basis and where there is apprehension regarding delay in availability of funds.

Deliberating upon the formulation of plan for the year 2022-23, the DC directed DMO Kathua to prepare a comprehensive plan covering priority areas which needs immediate intervention of the DMFT so that requirement can be fulfilled accordingly.

Pertinently, the DMFT has been mandated to make expenditure out of the funds which are collected at the rate of 10% of the royalty under the provision of Mines and Minerals (Development & Regulation) Act to utilize the same in the interest and benefit of the persons and the areas affected by mining related operations.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, Kishore Katoch; CPO, Uttam Singh; District Mineral Officer (Member Secretary), Rajinder Singh; Chief Medical Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, XEN R&B, DSWO besides other members of the DMFT.
