Srinagar : Reiterating that voting rights to ordinary residents of Jammu and Kashmir was bound to change peculiar demography and special identity of the local people, Chairman J&K People’s Democratic Front ( JKPDF) has said that the  move was against cherished dream of Maharaja Hari Singh about  Dogra pride .

In a statement issued on Wednesday  Hakeem said  that  the decision of the government to give voting rights to  ordinary residents would undoubtedly  change the demography of Jammu and Kashmir  . He said it was most ridiculous that on one hand government was boosting  celeberation of the birth anniversary of Maharaja Harisingh while on the other hand , his cherished  dream about Dogra pride was bieng mercilessly trampled in broad day light.  He said the decision  enabling non residents ,having  just  one year’s  stay in Jammu , to register in the  voter lists has emotionally  and mentally  disturbed  the politically  conscious people of Jammu and Kashmir  adding that the government should revoke the decision  at the earliest  . He said that people of Jammu and Kashmir would never tolerate any sort of tinkering with  their special identity and demography .
