Srinagar : Chairman J&K Peoples Democratic Front (JKPDF) and Former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Tuesday expressed serious concern over the government decision , authorising departmental stores to sell Beer in urban areas. He said the decision would spread more social evils in the overall society than to facilitate promotion of tourism.
According to a statement issued from the Party Headquarters here on Tuesday, Hakeem Yaseen while expressing concern over the Administrative Council decision authorising departmental stores to sell and store Beer and beverages ,said it would spread more evils in the society than to promote tourism . He has demanded immediate roll back of the decision adding that government should not prefer tax income at the cost of civil society.
In a concluding para of the above referred statement, Yaseen on this occasion also said that in a welfare state, government was duty bound to protect interests of the society over and above revenue considerations.
