Srinagar/Oct, 12: Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has expressed it’s displeasure over  an order of the J&K Government that  approves a proposal to authorise departmental stores to sell beer and other beverages in urban areas.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday the Chairman J&K Civil Society Abdul Qayoom Wani said  that the decision is contradictory to the erstwhile ” Nasha Mukht” campaign launched by the central govt in the country to get rid of the prohibited drinks and drugs.

“Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum Vehemently opposes the decision of  the Government that approved the sale of Beer and other RTD beverages because Society believes that this move  will destroy the social and moral fabric of people particularly the youth  of Jammu and Kashmi”, reads the above referred statement.
In the above quoted statement Wani further said ” What is the fun of launching campaigns like ‘nasha mukht’ in every nook and corner of country and on the other hand approving sale of beer in urban areas on stores,” Wani questioned”

Stating that the open sale of beer is not acceptable to any conscious citizen of Jammu and Kashmir, the JKCSF Chairman in his statement  demanded immediate rollback of this order which ihe said “s against the ethics of moral and health scenario of the society” .
