Katra : Tehsil Legal Services Committee Katra, in collaboration with Block Health Services Katra, on Mondayorganised a one day awareness camp on the World Mental Health Day, here at Community Health Centre Katra.
As per the direction of Director Health Services Jammu and under the guidance of Chief Medical Officer Reasi, DrGopalDutt Block Medical Officer Katra organized the one day camp to mark World Mental Health Day- an initiative of World Health Organization.
Speaking on the occasion DrVirender Singh explained in detail the importance of mental health in achieving global development goals. As per the WHO depression is one of the leading causes of disability and suicide is fourth leading cause of death among those in the 15 – 29 years age group.
“Both disability, sudden death by suicide hampers the growth of healthy society this is an initiative to improve quality of mental health services throughout the world,” he added.
The visiting dignitary from legal services committee Katra Advocate ManavSanmotra also gave a detailed overview of the services to be rendered to the patients suffering from drug abuse, depression and other kinds of mental disabilities. Whole staff of CHC Katra attended the camp with great zeal.
