Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested 3 drug peddlers in Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Police said that a Police party of Police Station Handwara at a checkpoint established at Kachwari Handwara intercepted three suspicious persons and during checking, officers recovered 29 grams of Heroin like substance from their possession.
Stating that the said suspects have been identified as Javid Ahmad Sofi S/o Ab Razak R/o Khunbal Handwara, Gh Ahmad Mir S/o Ab Khaliq R/o Chanjmulla Zachaldara and Haroon Ahmad Reshi S/o GhMohi Din R/o Warpora Zachaldara, police in it’s statement further said that the above named accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Stating therein further that a case vide FIR No. 266/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Handwara and further investigation has been taken up.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement, the police on this occasion appealed appealed to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
