Srinagar : Police on Saturday arrested two persons on charges of involvement in extraction and transportation of minerals in Awantipora and also seized two vehicles in Awantipora.
In a statement issued on Saturday police said that Police Station Awantipora received on receiving inputs about illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Jawbara area of Awantipora deputed a Police party of PS Awantipora under the supervision of SHO Awantipora to the areas which during raids on specific locations seized two Tippers bearing registration numbers JK01AK-7747 and JK01P-2316.
Stating that the said tippers were loaded with illegally extracted sand, Police in it’s statement further said that drivers of the said vehicles have also been arrested and they stand identified as Mudsir Ahmad ReashiS/oAb Rahim R/o Lethpora Awantipora, Aijaz Ahmad Khan S/o Abdul Rashid Khan R/oJawbaraAwantipora.
Police in it’s statement also said that it has registered a case vide FIR No. 223/2022 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement, Police warned that people indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
