Kulgam : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhaton Friday chaired a meeting of officers to review the arrangements put in place in the district for approaching winters.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed availability of snow clearance machines, stock position of essentials, action plans prepared by the concerned departments framed to prevent interruption to services during this winter season.
The DC instructed officers to prepare a comprehensive and meticulous snow clearance and winter plan to avoid any inconvenience to people by extending a prompt response. He called for better coordination in dealing with snow clearance operations and to ensure smooth power, water supply and other essential supplies.
The concerned officers from the Mechanical Engineering Department briefed the DC that there is availability of 20 snow clearance machines in the district.
Besides, EOs also apprised the chair about the availability of machinery in all MCs.
The DC directed for ensuring that snow clearance machines are positioned at all critical spots and that these are pressed into service as soon as snow starts to accumulate, prioritizing roads leading to all important installations across the district including Hospitals and other essential institutions.
Officer from PDD informed that 70 transformers are available in the buffer bank to meet any emergency during winters.
DC also instructed for activation of control rooms at District, Sub Division and Tehsil headquarters besides PDD, PHE, Mechanical departments were also instructed to establish their control rooms to ensure prompt response to people in winters.
AD- FCS&CA was directed to complete the dumping process of ration within this month.
The DC sought inter-departmental coordination for effective response for any eventuality in the approaching winter season and exhorted that the reaction time should be prompt.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, ADC, SDM-Noorabad, ACR and Executive Engineers from PDD, Mechanical Engineering, CEO, CMO, Tehsildars besides other Officers.
