11 accused arrested for Illegal extraction & transportation of minerals in B’gam, 11 vehicles also seized : Police

Srinagar : Police in on Friday said that it has arrested 11 persons and on charges of their involvement in extraction and transportation of minerals in Budgam district and also seized 11 vehicles from the accused involved in the commission of crime.In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters J&K, Police said that on receiving inputs about extraction and transportation of minerals Police Station Beerwah  sent a police teams to the specified location which  during raids seized 11 tippers (bearing registration numbers JK05B-3056, JK04-7055, JK02S-9043, JK02AV-9170, JK04A-6187, JK05B-4809, JK04B-0218, JK05A-5664, JK05B-2374, JKO8F-6325 & JK04A-2260).

Police in it’s above referred statement further said that the accused drivers were also arrested and have been identified as Shahnawaz Ali Hajam R/o Labartal, Mohd Imran Shah R/o Hajibagh Budgam, Suhail Ahmad Baba R/o HajibaghBudgam, Firdous Ahmad Rather R/o Bemina Khumani Chowk, Nazim HussainR/o Pallar Budgam, Nisar Abbas R/o Shalina Budgam, Gazanfar Ali Rather R/o Hasnain Coloney Ichgam, Shabir Ahmad Wani R/o Zurigund Budgam, Shafayat Hussain Dar R/o Reshipora Budgam, Farooq Ahmad Rah R/o Nundresh Colony Bemina and Javid Ahmad GanieR/o HeeuderBudgam.

Stating that a case vide FIR No. 146/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation was set into motion, Police in the concluding para of the above referred statement said that people  found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
