Srinagar : Police in Kulgam on Thursday organised ‘Thana Diwas’ functions at Devsar, D.H. Pora and Manzgam Police Stations.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters J&K, police said that these programmes were chaired by the respective jurisdictional Police officers in which Sarpanchs, Panchs, respectable citizens, civil society members of concerned areas, including members of Auqaf Committees, Numberdars, Chowkidars, Traders Federation and Transporters of respective areas participated.
During these meetings, participants highlighted various issues of public importance and they were assured that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and that of civil administration will be taken up with the concerned Departments for their early redressal. While speaking on the occasions, it was reiterated that the main aim of organising ‘Thana Divas’ is to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability in Policing at grassroot level and to hear and redress grievances of general public, besides seek support and active cooperation in maintaining L&O, curbing drug menace and others social evils in the areas.
In a concluding para of the above referred statement, the participants on this occasion were also stressed to co-operate with Police in identifying anti-national and anti-social elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment in the district. The participants appreciated the role of Police for conducting such interactive meetings which further boost Community Policing and Public confidence.
