Srinagar : Police on Thursday arrested three persons for involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Budgam district and also seized four vehicles in this connection.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Police said that police Station Beerwah on receiving inputs about illegal extraction and transportation of soil and boulders from Govt land at Bundgam and Nalla Shuknag Rathsun deputed police parties of Police Station Beerwah who raided the specific locations and seized three tippers (bearing registration numbers JK02AG-7905, JK01AG-5006, JKO4B-7611) and one tractor.
Stating that three accused drivers were arrested on spot and they were also identified as Manzoor Ahmed WaniS/o Ghulam Mohammad WaniR/o Aripanthan, Sahil Ahmed Lone S/o Abdul Salaam Lone R/o Pethmakahama and Abdul Hameed ReshiS/o Ghulam Mohammad Reshi R/o Pariswani, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that the above named accused have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Disclosing that a case vide FIR No’s. 144/2022 and 145/2022 was later on registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Beerwah and investigation was also initiated, Police in the concluding para of the above referred statement said that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
