Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two persons on charges of involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of mining material in Budgam district and also seized two vehicles used in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Police said that a police party from Police Post Soibugh at a checkpoint established at Soibugh Chowk intercepted two tippers bearing registration numbers JK04E-4899 and JK04E-8398 loaded with soil, illegally extracted from Government land at GarendKalan, Stating therein further that both the vehicles have been seized and drivers identified as Mushtaq Ah Dar S/o Abdul Ahad Dar and Mukhtar Ahmad GanieS/o Mohammad Akbar Ganie, both residents of Shahpora Chatabugh were also arrested.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered later at police station Budgam and further investigation has been initiated, Police in the concluding para of the above referred statement aid that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
